Guests - Apologies, Artists and Avians

14 July 2018

With just three weeks to go, we have some exciting news to share with you about guests who will be joining us for their first ever Discworld Convention.  But, before we get into all that, we have some apologies.

Unfortunately Amy Anderson and Rob Liano will no longer be able to join us.  Amy and Rob would have been representing the Josh Kirby Estate, which aims to preserve and celebrate the amazing work Josh produced over the years, bringing it to new audiences.  While we are very sorry that they will not be able to join us this time, we hope to see them at future Conventions, as Josh was and still is a much loved part of the Discworld universe.  In the meantime, if you want to see what they are doing you can visit joshkirbyart.com

Onto happier news,

We are delighted to announce that Paul Kidby will be joining us for a part of this years Convention.  Paul is an illustrator, sculptor and artist, whose Discworld themed works will be well known to all of us.  As well as designing the Discworld book jackets since 2002, Paul has also illustrated a number of Discworld publications.  The most recent of these was Terry Pratchett's Discworld Imaginarium in 2017.  Paul's work was recently featured in the Terry Pratchett - HisWorld Exhibition at Salisbury Museum and you can learn more about his works at paulkidby.com

And as if that was not exciting enough, we will also be welcoming Duncan Bolton, Curator of Birdworld in Farnham, Surrey.  The eagle eyed amongst you (see what we did there) will know that Birdworld is the venue for the Terry Pratchett Owl Parliament, which opened earlier this year.  Created in collaboration with the World Owl Trust, the Parliament aims to educate and raise awarness about Owls, with references to the Discworld books incororated through the exhibit. You can learn more about the Owl Parliament and the work of Birdworld at birdworld.co.uk

We are sure you will all join us in welcoming Paul and Duncan to the 2018 Discworld Convention.
